Preventing or minimising inhalant abuse replies on a multi level approach that takes into account not only the physical reduction in the availability of products but also addresses the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of the users and gives authority to relevant people to help reduce potential harm to users.
Information about intervention strategies and programs has been divided into three sections:
- Demand Reduction - detailing community based programs aimed at users, their families and the whole community. These include clinical treatment programs as well as diversionary and education programs.
- Supply Reduction - detailing current and historical strategies aimed at reducing the availability of inhalants.
- Harm Reduction - including harm minimisation strategies and law enforcement strategies.
